The Knowledge Hub
WELCOME TO THE KNOWLEDGE HUB
The Knowledge Hub, based at Saint Martin's Catholic Academy, is a network supporting teachers and leaders who are keen to develop the knowledge-rich approach in their schools. Saint Martin's, inspired by many great schools and educational thinkers, has been developing a curriculum that has at its heart the ambition that pupils will encounter the 'best that has been thought and said'. We work work with a number of schools and multi-academy trusts in England and Europe to support, train and offer CPD. The aim of The Hub is to link like-minded teachers and schools to introduce, embed and maintain this approach to education in behaviour culture, curriculum and its enactment.

We are all the inheritors of the greatest ideas, writings and discoveries of the past. The knowledge-rich approach is designed to enable pupils to learn about these ideas, creating an extraordinarily ambitious curriculum underpinned by expert teaching, effective memorisation, no excuses approaches to discipline and a driven academic ethos where all pupils can thrive.
The aim of The Hub, in connection with researchED, Parents and Teachers for Excellence, Primary Knowledge Curriculum, amongst others, is to offer advice, networking, training and support for schools interested in developing this approach. Although The Hub is based at Saint Martin's, we link teachers and school leaders across the UK and Europe, disseminating, sharing and supporting academies and colleagues.
The Hub is a none for profit organisation generally relying of the good will of schools and teachers to share ideas and resources. Any charges, for example for Direct Instruction Training, is to cover the costs of staff to develop and deliver training.

SUPPORT, ADVICE AND CPD
We are more than happy to offer support, general advice or visits to Saint Martin's. For more specific training or CPD, we also offer a number of packages:
GENERAL SUPPORTWe welcome visits or offer general support and advice to teachers and schools who are intrigued or want to implement a knowledge-rich approach to behaviour culture, curriculum and its enactment. We are happy to share what we have learnt or to link you in with a network of people and other schools who may have more experience or expertise in a particular area.

SUBJECT SUPPORT & TRAININGAt the heart of this approach is the provision of a curriculum where all pupils learn at a more ambitious level than a conventional one; for example in Year 7, studying Ovid and engaging in sophisticated scriptural exegesis. We offer INSET and subject support, including resources and training for departments who do not have the time to develop their own.

DIRECT INSTRUCTIONDirect Instruction is a programme designed to enable pupils who struggle with basic literacy and numeracy. It is a highly-structured course that enables children to catch-up rapidly with their peers to become proficient in reading, writing and basic mathematics.
