The Exemplary Leadership Programme
Developed by a team of expert school leaders and educationalists, our Exemplary Leadership Programme is a unique one. It is designed to help school leaders of all settings develop their school leadership knowledge in very specific domains:
1. How to establish exemplary behaviour and school culture.
2. How to work with subject leaders to develop a knowledge-rich curriculum.
3. How to ensure that curriculum is enacted brilliantly, grounded in what we know works and respecting subject disciplines.

Our ELP is developed by an experienced, knowledgeable team of school leaders and experts who understand schools in different UK settings exceptionally well. Our lead school is Christ The King – an outstanding primary school in inner-city Leicester, supported by St Martin’s Catholic Academy – a remarkable secondary school in rural Leicestershire. Our expert tutors have worked in inner-city schools, rural schools and coastal schools, in both primary and secondary settings and our programme is open to school leaders from any area of England.
St Martin’s is the home of the Midlands Knowledge Schools Hub and participants on the programme will be able to access the wealth of knowledge and expertise the Hub provides. The Direct Instruction Hub is also housed at st Martin's, headed up by the UK’s leading DI trainer, Chloe Sanders. Chloe works with Kurt Engelmann and the National Institute for Direct Instruction (NIFDI) in the United States, and participants will access Chloe's expert training training as part of the programme offer. We are supported by individuals associated with researchED, such as assistant head teachers Ruth Ashbee and Chloe Sanders, deputy head teacher Loraine Lynch-Kelly, English teacher and author David Didau, and researchED founder, Tom Bennett.

Curriculum Development with Jon Hutchinson - Date TBC

About this Event
Since the launch of Ofsted’s new education inspection framework, curriculum has become the zeitgeist of every school’s agenda. Intention, implementation and impact are the buzzwords of the year.
A renewed focus on curriculum is both a wonderful opportunity and a potential threat to any school. A huge raise in curriculum leaders’ workload is just one of the unintended consequences that has already arisen, as well as grabs for quick fixes and gimmicks.
Reach Academy has been developing a knowledge-rich, intelligently-sequenced curriculum for over three years. In 2018, the Department for Education awarded Reach Academy funding for three pilots, with the curriculum materials being used in a dozen schools.
In this session, Jon Hutchinson - who helped lead the project - will outline the research principles that underpin curriculum, share examples of the materials and give leaders a chance to see it in action through video.
Jon Hutchinson
Jon is an Assistant Headteacher at Reach Academy, Feltham, in charge of curriculum and assessment in the primary phases. He is also a Visiting Fellow at Ambition Institute, where he tutors on the Masters course in Expert Teaching. As well as experience as a class teacher in Key Stages One and Two, Jon has recently started to teach A Level Religious Studies. Over the last few years, Jon has been an expert adviser to Ofsted, the Standards and Testing Agency, and the DfE. @jon_hutchinson_

An introduction to Direct Instruction - June 24th 2019
Direct Instruction is unparalleled in its ability to improve student performance, but it is much more than simply purchasing instructional materials.
